How Can severe Knee Pain Be Treated?

I don t know what is wrong with my leg. The pain is a little to the left behind my right knee. I cant twist my leg too much and it is hard to run and walk. It really hurts when I run or over exert it. I can walk but it s difficult. I messed it up playing a game of american football. I was running then I cut left, and when I cut left I felt a pop and it made it very difficult to bend my knee and run. I am male,16 years old, and 206 lbs. I d greatly appreciate it if I could get some answers. Chris Simmons

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
Such injury can affect muscles, tendons around knee joint or ligaments in the joint. I would advise for-
* consultation of an Orthopedic doctor for local examination & investigations followed by Cause specific treatment.
* Till then-
- Rest, avoid knee movements.
- Hot/Cold pack
- light application of local muscle relaxant ointment over the counter,-/A pill of anti inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen would get some relief.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
